hile I did not grow up baking with family or have treasured recipes that have been handed down to me, I do have many fond memories of watching my Grandmother as she baked. I would watch her intently as she whipped up buttermilk biscuits in an old dishpan and then bake them in a cast iron skillet. Today, I sure wish I had my Grandmothers coconut cake recipe or my Mom’s recipe for banana pudding, but although I don’t, I do have that dishpan!
As I entered adulthood, baking was not a career option that ever entered my mind. I studied Management and worked in the business world for 30+ years before rediscovering the fascination I had with baking when I was young. Being self taught. I started reading voraciously about baking. I wanted to know why and how ingredients worked. I attended the San Francisco Baking Institute for classes; then came baking sweet treats for my family and friends. They all raved about my creations, and I decided to start Sugarbuzz Dezert Company. Finally in October of 2014 I decided to take a huge leap of faith and I resigned from the Corporate business world! Then on October 30, 2014 we opened our first retail store in College Park, FL.
